OMO ORISA
Omo Orisa is dedicated to those persons who have initiated to their
particular Orisa, to those who have been instructed which Orisa governs
their head and to anyone who just wants to lean more about the traditional
beliefs of the Yoruba Nation. We will periodically publish Yoruba
cultural information in hopes of sheding more light on the lives of
our ancient ancestors and family in the Motherland. Most of the information
about the religion of IFA is not secret... it is part of everyday
life in Yorubaland. Although traditionally, rituals were done before
birth; and some initiations at birth; children, grew up watching the
religion in daily practice; singing Orisa songs; and praying to the
Orisa. These are not secrets, this is part of the everyday life of
the Yoruba. You grow up speaking Yoruba, therefore, when you pray
or sing, you would do so in you native tongue. We look to our past
to prepare for our future, so that we might live the present correctly.

PROVERB: HE WHO HARASSES ME, TEACHES ME STRENGTH
***IF A GREAT MAN SHOULD WRONG YOU, SMILE ON HIM***

WE ARE THE FRUIT
We are the Fruit of an Ancient Tree Planted long ago in a far away
land Her roots go deep into Mother Earth And her branches spread across
oceans and seas Yet, we are the Fruit of that Ancient Tree We are
the Fruit of an Ancient Tree Planted where the chain first descended
from Orun And the Irumole and Orisa first touched land We are the
Fruit of an Ancient Tree Yearning to be home again. We are the Fruit
of an Ancient Tree Planted where the garden once stood In the land
now called Afrika We are the Fruit of an Ancient Tree We ripen to
many hues We speak in languages foreign to our spirit Yet, we are
the Fruit of that Ancient Tree We are the Fruit of an Ancient Tree
We must now pull the sap from the her Root To become all that we are
to be. Apetebii Mola
